“Through the Eyes of A Muse” All-Women Group Exhibition at Black Wall Street Gallery NYC Now Open Through April 10 – The Hype Magazine
Black Wall Street Gallery, the NYC and Tulsa-based gallery that serves to educate on social justice, preserve Black culture, and celebrate Black artists, announces their current exhibition, ‘Through The Eyes of A Muse.’ The collection of paintings and photography aims to reclaim the function of the muse, exploring feminine artistic creation as an instrument for transforming regularized canons in art.
The exhibition features 13 artists and aims to celebrate women as agents of their own self-expression. Artists include self-taught painter Ria, who grew up in foster care and used art as a means to escape abuse; documentary photographer Kay Hickman, whose work has been featured in Vogue, The New York Times, and TIME, among others; Basmat Levin, an Israeli artist who divides her time between Shanghai and New York; and Tulsa-based photographer Nicole Donis.
Curated by Wanda Goudas and Black Wall Street Gallery Owner Dr. Ricco Wright, the exhibition will be on view through April 10, in honor of Women’s History Month. Black Wall Street Gallery is located at 361 Canal Street, SoHo.
