Jonathan McHugh On The New Movie “Long Live Rock,” His Long-Term Success In Music & More – The Hype Magazine

Interviews

Published on March 7th, 2021 | by Darren Paltrowitz

The long-awaited film Long Live Rock… Celebrate The Chaos is scheduled to premiere worldwide on March 12, 2021, as a “Watch Now @ Home” Cinema Release via global distributor Abramorama. Simply put, Long Live Rock… Celebrate The Chaos is a deep dive into the culture of hard rock music. This genre — of course beloved by its millions of fans — is often misunderstood and maligned by media and the music industry. Within intimate interviews, titans of rock discuss the genre and the special relationship they have with their diehard audience, including members of Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Slipknot, Korn, Five Finger Death Punch, Rage Against The Machine, Greta Van Fleet, Halestorm and Shinedown.

Jonathan McHugh makes his directorial debut with Long Live Rock, also co-producing the film with Gary Spivack and Jonathan Platt. McHugh is a partner in J2 Media, has produced over 30 films and TV shows, has music supervised over 75 films and has produced numerous platinum-selling and award-winning soundtracks. His experience working in the marketing departments of film companies like New Line Cinema and DeLaurentis Entertainment puts him in the unique position of being able to create as well as market strong visual media content. His credits include Paramount’s Justin Bieber: Never Say Never, Crossroads starring Britney Spears and the Janis Joplin doc Janis: Little Girl Blue.

On February 11, 2021, I had the pleasure of interviewing Jonathan McHugh via Zoom, as embedded below. Prior to going “on the record,” McHugh talked about our brief correspondence a decade or so back when he worked on Morgan Spurlock’s Greatest Movie Ever Sold, which later came up during our interview. More on McHugh is online at www.songstewent.com, while more about Long Live Rock can be found by visiting www.longliverockmovie.com and www.twitter.com/longliverockdoc.
