It’s been a bit over a week since the death of rapper DMX, his passing has shaken the rap industry at its core. Tributes have poured in from his peers, fans, and industry insiders alike. On Monday, his fiancee Desiree Lindstrom shared a moving message touching on her relationship with DMX.

“The first night we met and you held me close. I knew I would never let go. I was lost in you and nothing else mattered. My best friend, my baby, my love…truly my everything. Thank you for us,” Lindstrom wrote in a post she shared on Instagram featuring a photo of them both. “Thank you for Exodus,” Exodus is the couple’s four-year-old son. She closed the caption with: “Thank you God for Earl Simmons…forever X.”

Days after her fiancée passed, Lindstrom received a tattoo in memory of the beloved rapper. The ink featured a call-out to his 2006 song “Dog Love.” Krystal Kills was responsible for the tribute tattoo which consisted of an “X” and the name of the aforementioned track. She posted the tattoo on her Instagram and wrote, “I feel honored to be able to do this memorial but also saddened.”

She also shared, “[Desiree] I pray you find your way through these dark times, and remember the love you had for each other will forever be untethered. Praying for your family. REST IN POWER DMX. Thanks for inspiring us, and giving Yonkers a voice.”

Brooklyn’s Barclays Center is set to be the venue for DMX’s public memorial on Saturday, April 24. According to TMZ specific details are still in the works, due to COVID-19 restrictions it’s likely that there will be limitations in place. Following the public memorial, the family will reportedly be having an intimate service on Sunday, April 25 at a church in New York City.
