Are Madlib and Logic Readying a Collaborative Album as “MadGic”?

It appears Logic isn’t quite ready to commit to his “retirement.” Today, the DMV rapper released a grip of verses over a classic Madlib production from Quasimoto’s Bus Ride EP, teasing what could be a project from the duo under the no-brainer collaborative moniker, “MadGic.”
Repurposing the beat from “Rappcats Pt. 3,” Logic makes a case for his return and implies the duo has a whole album in the bag. “Logic and Madlib is MadGic, your catalogue tragic/Fuck a underground, fuck a pop sound/Made this whole album in a lockdown, hip hop is our town,” the rappers says on the single. Logic discussed a potential joint project with the Bandana producer in an interview with The Needle Drop last year. “The only guy I’d make an album with is Madlib. And if we were gonna do it, we’d coin ‘MadGic,’ and it wouldn’t be a Logic album,” the rapper said.
The rapper released his last album, No Pressure, in 2020, before stepping away from music. He resurfaced with “Tired in Malibu,” a short performance over the beat for Busta Rhymes’ “Everything Remains Raw” released earlier this month. Madlib, on the other hand, has been on a tear. At the top of 2021, the producer released Sound Ancestors, a collaborative album with Four Tet disguised as a solo project. And late last year, the producer finally released a volume of his work with Karriem Riggins as Jahari Massamba Unit.
